National Trust Houses and Gardens

Cornwall is home to some of the finest houses and gardens in the country. From the flagship National Trust properties of Cotehele and Lanhydrock, to the smaller historic houses retaining that “lived in” feeling, there are many treasures to see. Some of the privately owned houses could easily be passed by unless you knew where to look. The National Trust’s smallest property, Hawker’s Hut, despite its superb location overlooking the Atlantic, does not feature in any guidebook.

National Trust House and Garden

Gardens too vary from the small, often the work of just one passionate person and all the more bewitching for it, through to the grand. The mild climate of Cornwall allows many plants to thrive which cannot be found in other parts of Britain. And then there is the largest greenhouse in the world – the Eden Project. We tell you the best times to go and how to avoid the queues. For both houses and gardens, we tell you what there is to see, the location, opening times and other important information.
