Bude is a spacious and self-contained resort town blessed with an enviable weather record. Sheltered in a bay with moors and high land behind, clouds tend to form inland leaving a sunny micro-climate known as the "Bude horseshoe". Within 5 minutes walk of the Hotel are beaches and the town centre. The beaches are sandy with plenty of rock pools to explore.
Lifeguard cover on the main beaches extends from spring until autumn but there are plenty of more secluded coves and beaches waiting to be discovered. For the active, fishing, cycling, horse riding and shooting are easily available. The rugged North Cornwall coast provides splendid walking, as does Bodmin Moor, only 20 minutes drive away.
Also within a short drive of the Hotel are the picturesque fishing villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac, Padstow and the delightful Camel estuary, the cobbled streets of Clovelly, and Tintagel Castle - the home of King Arthur. Cornwall is steeped in legend and history. It has its own special atmosphere and retains to this day a magical quality.
